VIDEO A peek inside my vintage sewing pattern collection

In today’s video, I’m giving you a peek inside my vintage sewing pattern collection. (You will want to grab a cup of tea or coffee before you start watching because my collection is big and this is a long video packed with eye candy.) I’ve loved vintage patterns for as long as I’ve been sewing. I don’t actually sew with them a lot but they are a huge source of inspiration for me. I love looking at the fashion design from decades past as well as the graphic design of the patterns themselves. If you like vintage patterns too, make sure to watch the video and if you would like to add some to your personal collection make sure to scroll to the bottom of the post for an exciting shop update.

New pattern pack! Lou Box Sleeve Expansion

Lou Box Sleeve Expansion PDF Pattern

Hello sew-friends! and Happy October! The weather has started getting a little chillier in LA and I’m slowly adjusting my wardrobe to more sleeves and sweaters. Nights have been cold and we even had spots of rain last weekend. If you’re also thinking about a cooler weather wardrobe, I have some exciting news! I have a new pattern offering in the shop – the Lou Box Sleeve Expansion. This pack includes all the sleeve pattern pieces for the sleeves from the Lou Box Dress patterns. It includes short sleeves with cuffs, short cuff sleeves and tapered sleeves in full and three-quarter length.

The Lou Box Sleeve Expansion pattern pack is perfect for you, if you have the Lou Box Top pattern and would like to add sleeves, but are not interested in the dress patterns. If you already have both dress patterns, then this sleeve expansion pack is not for you because you already have these pattern pieces. I’ve had a few requests for this over the years and I’m happy to now be able to offer this pattern pack.

Adding sleeves to the Lou Box Top opens up a wealth of possibilities for your everyday wardrobe. If you’re a little wary of pattern hacking and want to get your toes wet with some mix and match design elements, this pattern is a great way to get started. Playing around with these design options is a great way to have fun and explore your creativity and personal style.

Lou Box Sleeve Expansion Pack design options

Just look at all those options!!! The Lou Box Top comes with two neckline options and three hem options. When you add in the sleeves, you get an additional 18 options. And because this pattern works well in both woven and knit fabric, there are even more possibilities to explore. For fall and winter, I love wearing a Lou Box Top with long tapered sleeves. Later this week, I’ll be sharing a sweater dress hack made with the long tapered sleeves. Stay tuned!

This pattern is priced at just $6. Please note that you will need the Lou Box Top pattern or one of the Lou Box Dress patterns to complete a garment. The pattern comes with all the instructions you need but if you need a little more help, make sure to check out the sewalongs for the Lou Box Top and the Lou Box Dress. If you have any questions, feel free to send me an email or ask in the comments.
