DIY Boucle Coatigan – Review of the Jill Coat by Seamwork

A month or so ago, I was suddenly and surprisingly inspired to sew a coat. I don’t need to wear coats very often in LA and really never thought that I’d take the time to make one. But I’ve been feeling cold more than usual this fall, mostly due to living in a new neighborhood closer to the ocean and a new house with heating issues. The heating issues are going to be addressed (it will take some $$$$) but in the meantime, why not sew a coat? :)

Winter Sewing 2018 – Layering Cardigans

Today I’m sharing my third and fourth Blackwood Cardigans. This pattern has become a real TNT (Tried N True) pattern for me. I wear cardigans almost every day (all about the layers for me) and my Blackwood Cardigans have been in frequent rotation. Because I wear my first two sweaters all the time, I knew that I'd wear these a lot too. And I already had fabric in the stash so it was a no-brainer to add them to my Winter 2018 sewing list

DIY Tutorial – IKEA Tanum Rug Hack

I moved into my new place just one month ago and it’s been nonstop unpacking, painting, organizing and decorating ever since. I had lived in my last place for about 10 years so I was pretty settled in there and I haven’t done any serious decorating in a long time. My new place is a little smaller so I’ve tried to downsize as much as possible and only keep the things that I really love and are really useful. The projects have been a little overwhelming and this is actually the first thing I’ve sewn at the new place. (Confession: I’m a little worried that I haven’t started sewing sooner because my tv is no longer located in the sewing room. I’ve been spending more time watching tv and knitting than I used to. But I’m hoping to break that cycle soon.) Moving is so much harder than I remembered. I'm really looking forward to having a box-free house.
