Lou Box Dress Sewalong Day 1 – RTW Inspiration

When considering a new pattern it can be challenging to figure out how to style it and what kinds of fabric would work. Last week, I shared tester roundups for both the Lou Box Dress 1 and Lou Box Dress 2 which are great sources for inspiration. Today, I’m sharing some ready-to-wear inspiration to see how the high street would style similar dress designs. Both of these dresses are really comfy and depending on the fabric can be either chic or casual.

Let's start with the Lou Box Dress 1. Most of the RTW examples I found are in a chic solid linen (which also happens to be one of my faves) but don't let that deter you from choosing a print if you so desire. I like to imagine that View B of the dress would make a fantastic beach coverup, much like the striped dress in the top row.

Bottom row: Urban Outfitters (via Pinterest) //  Bona Drag  //  Need Supply Company

The Lou Box Dress 2 looks fantastic in either prints or solids and with the elastic waist and loose fit, you're sure to be super comfortable.

Bottom row: Modcloth  // Villa Striped Midi from Roolee  //  ASOS woven dress

As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve been working on the Lou Box Dress patterns for over a year now. It was a lot of trial and error, testing out different designs to find the ones that I liked the best and wanted to share with you. I’ve been really touched by the warm reception the patterns have received and it’s really motivating me to create even more.

But let’s not leave these two new patterns in the dust quite yet. Over the next few of weeks I will be posting a series of blog posts with tips and advice that would have been too cumbersome to include in the pattern itself. A lot of the steps are similar to the Lou Box Top so I’m not going to rehash the things that I already covered in that sewalong.
