DIY Strappy Black Linen Dress – Review of the Acton Dress pattern

DIY Strappy Black Linen Dress – Review of the Acton Dress pattern

Back in September, Emily from In The Folds asked me if I'd like to review an advance copy of her new pattern the Acton Dress. We virtually met earlier this year when we did a little pattern exchange; I sent her the Lou Box Top and she sent me the Rushcutter Dress. I learned so much making the Rushcutter (Emily is a genius pattern maker) so I jumped at the chance to try out the Acton Dress.

DIY Black Linen Blazer

DIY Black Linen Blazer

Every wardrobe needs a classic blazer or two in its arsenal. The blazer can automatically elevate any outfit. Throw it over jeans and t-shirt and you have a fun and polished outfit. The Victoria Blazer by By Hand London just oozes "cool girl" vibe. I really love the design of this blazer and semi-patiently waited for it to become available as a pdf pattern.

DIY Linen Alder Shirtdress

DIY Linen Alder Shirtdress

Today I'm sharing my second attempt at the Alder Shirtdress by Grainline Studio. I love the classic design and this pattern is pretty much always on my to-sew list but it's taken me a while to get it together. I made my first Alder over a year ago and while I love it and wear it sometimes, the fit is not perfect. For this version, I did some pattern alterations and I'm really happy with how it turned out. The great thing about making a pattern more than once, is that you can perfect the fit and  practice the skills and techniques used. Making this dress again, has me feeling like I can conquer any button down shirt or dress with ease.
