Last year, I found two quilted pillow shams and I decided to upcycle them into personalized Christmas stockings. The shams were a plain white color and I decorated them with freehand embroidery and chain stitched names.

I really love how these stockings turned out and I think they’d be great with different patchwork designs too. You could even do an all over design with multiple blocks. Hello sew-friends! Today's post is all about sewing the mini stocking. I first launched a free version of my Christmas stocking pattern last year and last week I released an expanded version of the pattern with four sizes. The expanded pattern includes four sizes—large, medium (the original), small and mini. The large, medium and small are all very similar in shape, construction and fabric recommendations. But the mini, due to its teeny tiny, uber-cute size is a little different. It's so cute and there are a ton of ways that you can use it but due to its size, the mini can be tricky to sew.

Hello and Happy December! Today, I have a super quick and easy Christmas Stocking tutorial for you. For years, I've searched for the perfect stocking shape and last year, I think I finally nailed it. That's right, I've been saving this tutorial for a whole year! If you've been following me for a while then you might know that I like a sewing project to be as simple to construct as possible and this stocking fits the bill. In fact, there are only three main steps and you'll have your own handmade Christmas Stocking.

In this video tutorial, I’ll show you how to quilt your own fabric to make garments, bags or home accessories. In the video, I’m making my Quilted Slippers pattern but the same techniques work for other projects as well. I will share a variety of tools you can use to mark quilting lines on your fabric and then demonstrate a couple of ways to quilt the fabric to the batting. The Quilted Slippers are a great project for using scraps of leftover fabric and for introducing yourself to quilting.

Today’s video is a big one! I share my top reasons why pdf patterns are awesome (just in case you’re not already convinced). Then I share my top tips for how to successfully print pdf patterns (including the printer settings you need to make sure the entire pattern prints on the page). And finally I show how to efficiently assemble and cut the pattern. I even show you the techniques I learned in design school for safely using an exacto knife or blade. I’ve never cut off a finger using these techniques so hopefully it will help you and keep your fingers safe too!
