DIY Lace Top – Review of the Willow Tank by Grainline Studio

DIY Lace Top – Review of the Willow Tank by Grainline Studio

Like all of Grainline Studio’s patterns, the Willow Tank is a classic. It’s a slightly boxy, sleeveless A-line top with bust darts and a large turned hem. I don’t remember when I actually bought this pattern, probably on sale at some point. And it was never specifically on my to-sew list. But it’s a one of those quick and simple makes that makes it a perfect impulse sew.

DIY Sweetheart Dress – Review of the Jessica Dress by Mimi G

All summer I wanted a strappy dress but could not find exactly the right pattern. I had a vague idea of what I wanted but it was hazy. It felt like when a word is on the tip of your tongue. The idea was there, just out of reach. And then I saw the Jessica Dress by Mimi G and SewSewDef magazine. And Bam! That was the dress I had been looking for all summer. It had the spaghetti straps and was fitted at the bust but still casual with big pockets and a gathered skirt. Exactly what I was looking for.

The Refashioners 2017 – #SuitsYou

It’s that time of year again! The Refashioners is here! If you haven’t heard of the project before, it’s hosted by the amazing Portia Lawrie of the Makery blog. I’m so honored that she asked me to participate again this year. You may remember that last year’s theme was jeans (see my make here). This year the theme is "Suits". To be honest, at first I really wasn’t sure about doing it. Suits make me think of thick, scratchy wool fabric and I live in a warm, sunny climate and happen to have a wool allergy. But Portia wisely pointed out that there are also suits made of linen and wouldn’t that be a lovely fabric to play with? So, I agreed to participate and I’m so glad that I did.
