Overalls have really become a thing haven’t they? I made my first pair back in 2017 and I was really nervous that they’d quickly be going out of style but they seem here to stay (for at least a few more years). I also thought that they might be awkward to wear and would just sit in my closet. But I’ve worn that first pair of bibs countless times! I really love them so much that when I found myself with a few yards of leftover fabric, I decided to make them again.
DIY Detachable Flint Bibs
A few months ago, Megan Nielsen released a free bib add-on to her Flint Pants pattern and I immediately knew that I wanted to try it. The Flint Pants are a wide leg pant and the coolest part is that they don’t have a traditional closure so they’re super easy to sew. The pants kind of have a mini wrap at the waist that you can finish with a button or a tie. I personally love the look of the tie at the waist.
VIDEO Tutorial How to Sew on Snaps by Machine
Today, I have a video to show you how to sew on snaps using a machine. Whenever I made a bodysuit, I used to dread having to sew the snaps on to the crotch because it would take me forever. But then a couple months ago I had a light bulb moment that I could probably do it by machine, using the same technique as when one sews buttons on by machine. And by golly it worked!
This is my first time making a video tutorial. I’ve always avoided doing it because I just wasn’t that familiar with making videos and growing up in the 90s, videos were just not how I learned things. So, it’s taken me a while to come around to understand their value and to be brave enough to make one myself. I definitely need some practice looking at the camera but I think it’s not bad for a first try.
