DIY Outfit – Blurred Dot Dress

If you take a look in my closet, you will know that I adhere to the adage that one can never have too many dresses. And when a dress comes in a figure flattering, classic style like this you can never go wrong. I'm usually drawn to colorful prints (hence my rainbow colored closet) but I find myself getting the most wear out of my black and white pieces. So I'm sure if this dress was in my wardrobe I would wear it often. Today, I'll show you how you can easily DIY this dress yourself.

How to DIY a Blurred Dot Dress

Step 1: Our inspiration dress is by Jil Sander Navy. The line has a few other pieces in the same print including a top, shorts and another dress. I love the painterly, abstract print. It fits right in with my Brushstroke Moodboard

Step 2: The design of this dress is a very simple sleeveless, A-line with seams above the bust. and at the waist. Butterick B6016 is a very similar design only without the seam above the bust. If you really want a seam there, you could easily slice the pattern and add a seam allowance.

Step 3: For the fabric I found this great silk chiffon from Mood that is very similar to our inspiration dress. If you're feeling artistic, you could also buy a plain grey fabric and paint white dots on top.
