Announcing! The relaunch of the Lou Box Dress patterns!

Today we are announcing the relaunch of two patterns, the Lou Box Dress 1 and the Lou Box Dress 2. These patterns have been updated to match the sizing of the Lou Box Top, for bust/hip measurements 32-58 inches (81-147cm) and a height of 5’10”. The pattern pieces of the LBT and LBD patterns can be mixed and matched for lots and lots of variations. Watch the video below to get all the details and see a few samples of the different views in motion.

Introducing our first ever fabric collection

Introducing our first ever fabric collection

Today, I’m very excited to announce the launch of Sew DIY’s first fabric collection. The collection includes nine fabrics that were specially selected to pair with the Lou Box Top and Dress patterns. One of the most challenging parts of sewing can be selecting the right fabric for a pattern so I’m happy to be able to ease that struggle a bit. I truly love all of these fabrics and I hope that you do it. Read on for more details on the collection.

How to lengthen or shorten the rise of a pants pattern

How to lengthen or shorten the rise of a pants pattern

One reason people often recommend starting off sewing a skirt rather than pants is that skirts are usually much easier to fit than pants. That crotch curve can create all sorts of fitting dilemmas and one of the easiest to solve is the rise, also called the crotch depth or crotch length. In today’s video tutorial, I’ll show you how to shorten and lengthen the crotch depth evenly across the front and back. And as a bonus, I’ll show you how to adjust only the back rise. This is a really simple pattern adjustment to make and very useful if you are petite or tall (like me!)
