Three Ways to Create a Seam Allowance Guide

Three Ways to Create a Seam Allowance Guide, a Video tutorial from Sew DIY

Today I have a new sewing video for you! The video shows three ways to create a seam allowance guide for your sewing machine. Using the correct seam allowance is very important for ensuring a successful finished garment and a guide that is easy to see and stays in place is the best way to make sure you are using a consistent and correct seam allowance.

Making videos is new for me and I’ve really been enjoying it. I’ve started a YouTube channel and for the time being, I’m going to try to post a new video once a week. I’d be ever so grateful if you follow my channel and let me know if there are any topics that you’d like me to cover. And in case you missed it, make sure to watch last week’s video tutorial How to Sew On Snaps with a Sewing Machine. Happy sewing!

Overalls have really become a thing haven’t they? I made my first pair back in 2017 and I was really nervous that they’d quickly be going out of style but they seem here to stay (for at least a few more years). I also thought that they might be awkward to wear and would just sit in my closet. But I’ve worn that first pair of bibs countless times! I really love them so much that when I found myself with a few yards of leftover fabric, I decided to make them again.

A few months ago, Megan Nielsen released a free bib add-on to her Flint Pants pattern and I immediately knew that I wanted to try it. The Flint Pants are a wide leg pant and the coolest part is that they don’t have a traditional closure so they’re super easy to sew. The pants kind of have a mini wrap at the waist that you can finish with a button or a tie. I personally love the look of the tie at the waist.
